Sant Joan Castle
Sant Joan castle and Sa Palomera, are the two most characteristic landscape elements of Blanes[/city_link ].
The castle was built between the 11th and 13th centuries as a defensive space against pirate raids. After several interventions for the preservation of the monument, the 15-metre high keep and some parts of the wall are still standing today.
It is a highly recommended visit during our stay in Blanes, not only for its historical value, but also for the magnificent panoramic views it offers over the Tordera plain, the Montseny, the coastal mountain range and the Blanes beach.
Visit Blanes
The entrance door to the Costa Brava
Costa Brava has its gateway in Blanes, more specifically on the rock of Sa Palomera.
Blanes is a culturally rich town, a source of inspiration for many writers and artists. If we let ourselves get lost in its streets, we can enjoy its elegant nineteenth century houses and some interesting remains of Catalan Gothic architecture, among which the fabulous fountain, built during the 15th century, stands out.
Every year, at the end of July, one of the most emblematic events in Blanes and the southern Costa Brava is held: the International Fireworks Competition. A spectacle with more than a century of tradition that brings thousands of people to the town's beaches every summer.
Blanes also has a wide range of water activities such as kayaking or paddle surfing, which allows us to get to know its beautiful seafront first hand.
To enjoy a flexible and comfortable experience during your stay, tourist apartments in Blanes are a great option. They give you more private space and freedom to enjoy time your way.
Blanes is also known for its gastronomy, which highlights the traditional flavors of Catalan cuisine and the freshness of seafood. Along the seafront promenade and in the streets of the historic center, you will find a wide variety of restaurants and bars offering everything from tapas to more elaborate dishes. Don't miss the opportunity to savor a delicious seafood rice stew or a fideuà, typical dishes that reflect the Mediterranean essence of the town.
