Torre de les Hores
The Torre de les Hores is located in the highest part of the old town of Pals, one of the most spectacular medieval settings on the Costa Brava.
Its structure is circular, with a diameter of 7 meters and a height of 15. Its origin is associated with the castle of Pals, of which we find the first documentary reference in the 9th century. Later, during the 12th century, its master tower, the current Tower of the Hours, was built.
In the 15th century, the castle suffered serious damage, and King Joan II granted permission to reuse its stones to reinforce the church of Sant Pere and the structure of the walls.
Once this intervention was finished, the only element that survived from the castle was the Torre de les Hores, essential for its watchtower functions.
The bell tower that we currently find at the top of the tower was added in the 15th century.
