The Ciutadella of Roses
A visit to the imposing Ciutadella de Roses allows us to contemplate the history of Roses from the 4th century BC to the 19th century.
The historical complex includes the 16th century Ciutadella itself, as well as the foundational remains of Greek and Roman settlements, the monastery of Santa Maria de Roses and various remains of the Vila Vella and its medieval fortification.

The present-day Roses owes its origin to the Greek colony of Rhode, a founding nucleus that took advantage of the privileged location of this territory.
