Aiguamolls de l’Empordà
The Aiguamolls de l'Empordà Natural Park is one of the main examples of the Costa Brava natural heritage.
The introduction of agriculture and livestock farming at the beginning, and the subsequent urban pressure in the Empordà area, caused the extensive area of wetlands comprising the Gulf of Roses and the Baix Ter to gradually diminish at an alarming rate. During the 1970s, the firm action of the Grup de Defensa dels Aiguamolls Empordanesos finally made it possible to conserve this area of 4,824 ha.
It is a highly recommended site for hiking and nature lovers. The park has a wide network of itineraries for walking and cycling.
Visit Empuriabrava
The navigable town
Seeing a map or an aerial photograph of Empuriabrava is more than enough to understand its enormous uniqueness. Empuriabrava is a residential centre criss-crossed by navigable canals and built according to the Venetian urban model. It currently has 24 kilometres of navigable inland canals, a true natural paradise for nautical enthusiasts.
Due to its nature, Empuriabrava is a very touristic town where you will find a wide range of holiday homes to buy or rent from Inmobiliaria Montse. Fans of adventure sports also have in Empuriabrava a reference to take into account, as this Alt Empordà town has a sports aerodrome with a wind tunnel where you can go skydiving.
