Platja Gran beach
Platja Gran beach in Pals stands out for its length, almost two and a half kilometres. It's located between Grau beach and Racó beach, which belongs to the municipality of Begur. It's made up of fine sand and is notable for the steep slope that we find when we enter the water.
Due to its characteristics, it's the perfect place for water sports. It has a bar service, adapted toilets, showers and lifeguards. It is also accessible for people with reduced mobility thanks to the access walkways.
This beach can be divided into two large areas. The first is more urban due to the proximity of the houses, while the second is practically virgin due to the construction of the Radio Liberty antennas. This infrastructure was used by the US government during the Cold War to broadcast propaganda in the countries that formed part of the Soviet bloc. Today, these antennas are no longer present, but they have allowed this space to remain virtually unchanged to the present day.
