Gran beach
The Tamariu bay is the fantastic natural refuge that is home to Gran beach. Located in the town centre of this old fishing village, the main beach of Tamariu is usually a very popular spot as it is located in the centre of the town and can be reached on foot, by car or even by bus.
It is a very pleasant place to spend a great day at the beach with your family. It is also an ideal place to enjoy active tourism, practice all kinds of sports and marvel at the natural surroundings of this privileged corner of the Costa Brava. Between the nearest buildings and the sand, there is a beautiful promenade and several bars and restaurants that complete the area's offer.
The Gran beach has a wide range of services: public showers and toilets, lifeguard and Red Cross services, the possibility of renting boats for your own use and even a sailing school. It is also a beach accessible to people with reduced mobility thanks to the ramps and walkways leading to the sand and the adapted showers.
It has obtained several quality awards: Q for Tourism Quality, EMAS Quality, Environmental Quality and Blue Flag.

The essence of a fishing village
Tamariu is a small municipality that belongs to Palafrugell where past and present go hand in hand. Its urban centre is made up of a group of narrow streets that gave shape to the old fishing village. Nowadays, Tamariu has a very low population density.
Rocks, vegetation and coarse sandy beaches form the natural landscape of the village. Lovers of active tourism can follow its beautiful and rugged coastline by kayak or boat, or opt for a stroll along its coastal path and discover its magnificent, half-hidden natural spaces, such as Cala Pedrosa.
