Beaches and coves | Beaches and coves L'Escala
Portitxol beach
Portitxol beach is located 2 kilometres north of l'Escala, very close to the ruins of Empúries and right next to Les Muscleres beach. It is mainly made up of fine sand and is about 280 metres long. Its surroundings are very characteristic due to the presence of the Hostal Empúries, located on the beachfront, and above all due to the Portitxol arch, a rock formation located at one of its ends.
We can get to the beach in our private vehicle and park it in the car park next to the hostel (payable during the summer season). Another great option is to walk along the Empúries promenade.
The beach has many services, such as showers, toilets, sun loungers, boat hire, and is accessible for people with reduced mobility.
It has been awarded the EMAS and ISO 14001 quality labels.
