Aigua Xelida cove
Aigua Xelida cove is located at the north of Tamariu, in a beautiful natural area dominated by rocks and pine trees, offering splendid views.
The cove is divided into two areas, Cala Gran and Cala Petita, separated by a rocky formation crowned by the Casa Aigua Xelida. This was the first house built in the area. It dates back to 1953, and due to the difficulties of access, all the building materials had to be transported by sea.
In this building there is a plaque in memory of a literary episode by Josep Pla, the Catalan writer and journalist from Palafrugell, reflected in the story "Un viatge frustrat".
The cove has several accesses. You can choose to leave your car in the Avi Xicu street and walk down (five minutes), or take a short route from Platja Gran[/item_link ], located a kilometre and a half away.
Visit Tamariu
The essence of a fishing village
Tamariu is a small municipality that belongs to Palafrugell where past and present go hand in hand. Its urban centre is made up of a group of narrow streets that gave shape to the old fishing village. Nowadays, Tamariu has a very low population density.
Rocks, vegetation and coarse sandy beaches form the natural landscape of the village. Lovers of active tourism can follow its beautiful and rugged coastline by kayak or boat, or opt for a stroll along its coastal path and discover its magnificent, half-hidden natural spaces, such as Cala Pedrosa.
