El Salvament Marítim
At the top of Guíxols we find El Salvament, a rescue station for fishermen and sailors.
The building was inaugurated in 1890. It was used by volunteers who provided lookout and rescue services to sailors who suffered incidents due to weather conditions.
Today, the building is part of the Museum of History of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, and hosts an exhibition dedicated to maritime rescue. Among the highlighted pieces is the Bohera, the unsinkable boat used for rescue tasks.
