Roses Lighthouse
The Lighthouse of Roses is located at Punta de la Poncella, a privileged enclave of the municipality that marks the eastern end of the bay of Roses.
The first documented lighthouse in Roses was located a little higher than the current one, on the land now occupied by the castle of Trinitat. The current lighthouse was designed in the mid-19th century, as part of the general plan for lighting the coasts and ports. Finally, the facilities were inaugurated in 1864. Initially, the lighthouse operated with oil light, although the technology changed until its electrification in 1921, going through periods of using paraffin and oil.
