Crit cove
The Crit cove is located in the town of Mont-ras, between Palamós and Calella de Palafrugell. Its natural and scenic surroundings are marvellous, totally distant from any inhabited centre. To get there, take a path very close to the Cap Roig gardens and walk for about twenty minutes.
The cove is about 150 metres long and is mainly made up of gravel and coarse sand. At one end, sheltered, we can still find some old fishermen's huts. It is also worth mentioning that the Crit cove is a nudist area.
Its peculiar name comes from an old legend. It tells us that some Saracen pirates who were in the area were alerted by the crowing of a cockerel to the presence of a farmhouse very close to the cove. The pirates kidnapped the owner's daughter, who, in desperation, gave a great cry as they left the coast.
