Church of Sant Romà
The church of Sant Romà is located in the center of Lloret de Mar, in one of the most touristy and crowded areas of the municipality.
The first church of Sant Romà was located in the current Mare de Déu de les Alegries hermitage. In the 16th century, it was decided to bring the worship closer to the sea, in the area where the fishermen and sailors of Lloret lived. Thus, the current church of Sant Romà was consecrated in 1522. Its construction follows the guidelines of Catalan Gothic.
The building has undergone some expansions, such as the one in 1730, when the sacristy was built around the apse.
Later, at the beginning of the 20th century and in the context of the wealth provided by the Indians of Lloret, the Capella del Santíssim was built. This expansion was carried out by Bonaventura Conill i Montobbio, a modernist architect heavily influenced by Gaudí's work.
