Meda lighthouse
The Meda lighthouse is located on Meda Gran, the largest island in the Les Medes archipelago, in the municipality of l'Estartit.
The building was constructed in 1868, with the peculiarity of being the only lighthouse located on an island in the entire Catalan territory. The lighthouse was managed by a lighthouse keeper who permanently lived on the island until it was modernized and automated in 1923. The last major renovation took place in 1982, with the installation of a new optic powered by photovoltaic panels.
