Visit L'Escala
Gastronomy and tradition
The name of l'Escala is known in many corners of the world thanks to the excellence of one of its main industries, the anchovies salting. During your stay, you can visit one of its factories to observe the traditional process of making this product, as well as the anchovy and salt museum.
As well as enjoying beaches and coves such as Cala Montgó, Riells beach or Illa Mateua cove, in l'Escala you can also discover the gateway to the Iberian Peninsula of the Greek and Roman cultures by visiting the Archaeological Site of Empúries.
A few metres from the site is the medieval village of Sant Martí d'Empúries, another highly recommended visit during your stay in l'Escala.
